Nonlinear localized modes in two-dimensional hexagonally-packed magnetic lattices

We conduct an extensive study of nonlinear localized modes (NLMs), which are temporally periodic and spatially structures, in a two-dimensional array repelling magnets. In our experiments, we arrange lattice hexagonal configuration with light-mass defect, harmonically drive the center chain tunable excitation frequency, amplitude, angle. use damped, driven variant vector Fermi- Pasta-Ulam-Tsingou to model experimental setup. Despite idealized nature model, obtain good qualitative agreement between theory experiments for variety dynamical behaviors. find that spatial decay is direction-dependent amplitudes along fundamental displacement axes lead resonant peaks frequency continuations similar those occur one-dimensional lattices. However, driving other directions leads creation asymmetric NLMs bifurcate from main solution branch, consists symmetric NLMs. When vary observe such behavior both simulations. also demonstrate solutions appear be time-quasi-periodic branch time-periodic
